Designer Spotlight: Opeyemi on Life, Work, and Staying Creative

Today, we spent some time getting to know one of our designers a little better, nothing formal, just a casual check-in to understand the person behind the work, their rhythm, and what life looks like outside the screen. Here’s how the conversation went:

How has life been for you lately?
It’s been busy in a balanced way, juggling work and social life, but still managing to keep things moving.

That kind of balance is not easy to pull off. What does your usual day look like?
Work, then about 30 minutes on social media to catch a breather, scattered throughout the day, and then back to work again. It’s a loop that keeps things moving.

Yeah those little breaks in between everything… when do you actually get to relax properly?
Honestly, the best part of my day tends to come when everything is finally winding down, when I’m about to rest. That’s usually when the pressure from work eases off, and I can finally relax into my own space.

That makes sense, What are you focusing on right now outside just the daily routine?
Getting my work-life balance right and figuring out the bigger picture. I do not just want to be busy; I want to be moving in the right direction and getting clearer on the bigger picture is for myself.

How have you been feeling these days?
It’s been a mix; some days feel good, some just feel normal. Overall, it’s steady. And honestly, steady is not a bad place to be.

And work itself, how has that been lately?
Consistent. I am showing up and getting things done, but I can feel that I need a reset. Just something to recharge my energy and get my motivation back up again.

What kind of design are you working on right now?
A bit of everything. Sports designs, interior formatting, and flyer designs. It keeps things interesting, so it never really feels one-dimensional.

What helps you stay creative?
Keeping up with the latest trends and seeing what’s happening in the creative space.

What is hard for you when it comes to your work?
Book covers that do not connect to anything familiar. When there is no clear reference point, you really must stretch your thinking and build something from scratch.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Scrolling through social media, making content, and watching football.

What kind of music, movies, or shows are you into right now?
Mostly music. I like upbeat sounds that keep my energy up through the day.

What do you usually do to relax?
Snacks, junk food, and doing absolutely nothing productive. Sometimes that is exactly what you need.

Who or what inspires you lately?
Honestly, my bills. That is the real motivation right there.

Haha, I can imagine. What’s something small that makes your day better?
When people just do what they are supposed to do. It sounds simple, but it makes everything smoother and less stressful.

If you could say one message to creatives in your field, what would it be?
Do not get too comfortable. Stay sharp. AI is here, and things are changing fast, so you must keep evolving and pushing your creativity further.
